The Wooden Sword Episode 38: Oath or Promise

Episode summary

Season One finale. Warden Kurenai orders Akari aside. Tessai reminds her that Jun's name was never crossed out of the ledger, and Mio reminds Akari of her oath. Jun begs Akari to do it before he hurts someone, but she chooses the promise she made first. Ren and Suzu stand with her, and the Warden's Iron Lotus meets their crossed swords. Then Jun raises his wooden sword and keeps his promise too. But far below the old well, Kurozumi is still smiling. The Wooden Sword will return in Season 2.
